Franco Antonicelli Historic Residence. A historic residence listed by the Ministry of Education and protected by the Superintendence of Architectural Heritage and Landscape of Piedmont, it is one of the most beautiful villas in the region. It was thanks to Franco Antonicelli (1902-1974), writer and politician, that the collective composed of, among others, Augusto Monti, Leone Ginzburg, Norberto Bobbio, Cesare Pavese, and Antonicelli himself with friends such as Benedetto Croce and Einaudi, gathered here every summer starting in 1935. The villa was then owned by Antonicelli’s father-in-law, the notary Annibale Germano: a prominent figure with ties to Turin’s industrial class and the pre-Fascist political class. Franco Antonicelli chose it as the place where Primo Levi was first published, and the works of Herman Melville and Franz Kafka, Eugene Gladstone O’Neill and James Joyce began to reach Italy, with translations by the likes of Cesare Pavese. A true jewel of Italian culture, it is located in Sordevolo, Biella, immersed in unspoiled nature with a temperate climate. It is close to sites of remarkable beauty, parks and nature reserves, ski resorts, sanctuaries, and hiking destinations. It still retains an authentic atmosphere with its original furnishings and eighteenth-century settings designed by architect Chevalley. The spectacular natural beauty of the park and the distant landscape provide an enchanting backdrop from every vantage point of the house. It is surrounded by stone walls that protect its privacy. The villa, spread over over 3,500 square meters, offers a special atmosphere to those seeking a refined, comfortable, and charming place. The spacious bedrooms and bathrooms: The Guest Suite consists of two double bedrooms, connecting rooms, and a shared bathroom. The Red Room is a double/triple suite with a terrace and bathroom. The Green Room is a double/triple suite with a terrace and bathroom. There are a total of 13 bedrooms, plus two in the caretaker’s house, which measures approximately 200 square meters. The two-story orangery now houses a convivial/refreshment area spanning over 500 square meters. The centuries-old park and the villa’s rooms: the Billiards Room, Tea Room, Games Room, Poets’ Room, and Library Room complete the enchantment. The ample on-site parking is available. Ample free parking is available in front (road crossing). The Dimora has been a venue for over twenty years: it has hosted countless private and public events. Among the most significant, in addition to celebrations, conferences, receptions, and photoshoots, are the “Ethics in Politics” Summer School, with faculty members staying at the Villa: Bersani, Visco, Scopelli, and Profumo; and the Production for the staging and debut of the show “Hair,” with director Solari, choreographer Parsons, and singer Elisa.
